For over 30 years, Alaska Native owned & operated, Kantishna Roadhouse offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the backcountry of Denali National Park in a comfortable and intimate setting. With just a handful of other guests, immerse yourself in all that this remote setting has to offer – peace and quiet, the natural beauty of the flora and fauna, and time to relax and reflect away from the frantic pace of modern life.

Your adventure begins at the private airstrip of Denali Air, located in the heart of the Alaska Range on the Parks Highway, just south of the road entrance to Denali National Park. Denali Air has been in operation since 1970 and is the original flightseeing company in Denali National Park. During your 55 minute flight aboard a 206 Cessna aircraft, you’ll have the opportunity to get a birds-eye view of the Alaska Range, the peaks of Mt. Denali, and the vast wilderness of Denali National Park.

Your experience includes hiking, mountain bike riding, fly fishing, paddle boarding, meals cooked by Evan, and simply just being there.

Common Questions

  • Round-trip air transportation between Denali Air and Kantishna Roadhouse, National Park entrance fees, cabin accommodations with a full private bath, meals and select complimentary Alaskan beer and wine (see bartender for details), guided hiking, interpretive programs, solo mountain biking, fly fishing, guided gold panning and excursions to Wonder Lake to view Mt. Denali and Alpenglow colors.

  • -Airfare and travel to/from Denali Air.

    -Gratuities for lodge staff (cash or credit card), gift shop merchandise, and select “top shelf” liquors (available on-site for purchase).

  • We recommend that guests start their trip in Fairbanks, Alaska. Fairbanks has many hotel options. The distance from Fairbanks to Denali Air is 128 miles and a comfortable 2.5 hour journey by car or bus. 

    Rental cars are recommended for travel to and from Denali and there are several car rental companies in Fairbanks to choose from. Denali Air has free parking to accommodate guests arriving to Denali Air via rental car. Please note: there are no rental car agencies available in Denali Park.

    Guests may also elect to start their trip in Anchorage, Alaska.
